― Boris Beja in Nina Čelhar: Nekonkretno Na skupni razstavi z naslovom Nekonkretno so v sklopu seriala Inside Out predstavljena nova/novejša dela Borisa Beje in Nine Čelhar. Njuni praksi se često subtilno povezujeta na različnih pomenskih ravneh, saj trenutno oba obravnavata pojav, rabo in razumevanje betona kot tistega materiala, ki je ključno zaznamoval moderno dobo in zato na sebi nosi številne simbolne pomene. Boris Beja and Nina Čelhar: Inconcrete At a joint exhibition entitled Inconcrete, the new/newer works by Boris Beja and Nina Čelhar are presented as a part of the serial Inside Out. Their practices often subtly intertwine on different levels of meaning, since they are currently both focused on the occurrence, use and understanding of concrete as a material which crucially marked the modern age and thus carries various symbolic meanings. In the past century, the achievements in the areas of society, culture and art were frequently conditioned by the progress of technology. At the turn of the 19th and 20th century, industrial materials prevailed in applied arts and architecture. In buildings such as industrial plants or public exhibition grounds, the combination of steel and glass became prominent, while in the more representative construction, concrete gradually began to dominate as the ultimate raw and durable material that sums up and marks the modern age. However, concrete is not an invention of the modern era. It was known by various ancient peoples; for instance, it enabled the Roman civilisation to experience a great urban and artistic flourish with elements such as arches, vaults and domes. After centuries of abandonment, concrete reappeared in the 19th century as a by-product of industrial revolution, and after 1945, as a driving force behind the ambitious urban projects.
