"Colette is one of New York City's artistic Living National Treasures. Her pioneering street performances in the 1970s brought the avant-garde art form into the public eye. Her beautiful installations at such location as the Fiorucci store on 59th Street in Manhattan, at The Clocktower and PS i, and in various European venues such as Berlin and Rome brought crucial attention to this vital genre of work. And they had a huge influence on Pop culture (without Colette we would not have had many aspects of Madonna, for example). Her altered photographs have been widely exhibited and published to critical acclaim. The influence of her "Living Tableaux" resonates in the works of artists as diverse as Cindy Sherman (who restricts her fantasy personas to the two-dimensionality of her photographs) and Matthew Barney (whose use of mythology, notably his satyr impersonations, takes costume play to similar levels of flamboyance). The elaborately staged performances of the Japanese artist, Mariko Mori, also seem to channel Colette in their appropriations of cultural and mythological icons. Colette's essentially blithe esthetic has celebrated aspects of the feminine during the rise of an era when academic feminism declared suspect everything conventionally associated with enjoying being a girl. That includes high heels, fashion and make-up, not to mention good manners, elegance and romance. Her pieces also have hypothesized an ambivalent relationship with domesticity and fashion, posing questions about the nature of female roles in art and life without ever rejecting femininity. Made in China, 20. junij 2018 ― M# 34, 2018, paper, forex, digital print Design: Marko Damiš, studio Wild Limited edition of 300 copies Certificate of authenticity - - - - - False Memory Game is a traditional memory game with a story about memory itself. The playing cards consist of 25 doctored images, honouring a number of psychological experiments, researching the reliability and trueness of autobiographical memories that started in the 70’ and are still developing today. In most cases, the participants of these experiments were told the research is based on the ability to recall certain events from childhood. In reality, researchers were manipulating the subjects with minimal input to implant false stories into their memory. This was done through conversations and with simple image manipulation. These experiments revealed how fragile our memory is and how easy it is to create false life stories. https://daleakovacec.com/projects/false-memory-game Photography: Marko Damiš

Made in China, 16. december 2016 ― M#5, 2012, shirt, various sizes, screen print Limited edition of 10 - - - - - By wearing the shirt designed by artist Sašo Vrabič, anyone can become a “passing canvas, a written mural, a message catching the eye of an onlooker”. In recent years, Vrabič has been using words to create portraits, and there are usually connections between the large images, written directly on walls using pencil, and the contents of the words making up the images. The words define the person being depicted, while knowing the person in the image allows us to see the wider context. By wearing a Sašo Vrabič shirt, you will become the one being depicted, enriching the inscription with your own image. The slogan, which became part of the multiple, was previously used by Vrabič for his mural image – the portrait of the perennial malcontent and cripple dr.
