Dalea Kovačec, False Memory Game

Dalea Kovačec, False Memory Game

Made in China, 20. junij ― M# 34, 2018, paper, forex, digital print Design: Marko Damiš, studio Wild Limited edition of 300 copies Certificate of authenticity - - - - - Price: 35 € False Memory Game is a traditional memory game with a story about memory itself. The playing cards consist of 25 doctored images, honouring a number of psychological experiments, researching the reliability and trueness of autobiographical memories that started in the 70’ and are still developing today. In most cases, the participants of these experiments were told the research is based on the ability to recall certain events from childhood. In reality, researchers were manipulating the subjects with minimal input to implant false stories into their memory. This was done through conversations and with simple image manipulation. These experiments revealed how fragile our memory is and how easy it is to create false life stories. https://daleakovacec.com/projects/false-memory-game Photography: Marko Damiš

However, one heart is black, the other white, while the form is divided or torn, in fact it’s first cut and then composed from two – hearts. The heart is a cliché symbol of love: love is something romantic, in this case loving, soft and kind, saccharine … but it’s also painful, uncertain and fractured. Love is also a form of violence. Love is often a conflicting form, love can be a (black-and- white) battlefield.” (Alen Ožbolt) http://www.alenozbolt.si Photograph: VB

Sašo Vrabič, There’s an Emptiness in Perfection

Made in China, 16. december 2016 ― M#5, 2012, shirt, various sizes, screen print Limited edition of 10 - - - - - Price: 35 € By wearing the shirt designed by artist Sašo Vrabič, anyone can become a “passing canvas, a written mural, a message catching the eye of an onlooker”. In recent years, Vrabič has been using words to create portraits, and there are usually connections between the large images, written directly on walls using pencil, and the contents of the words making up the images. The words define the person being depicted, while knowing the person in the image allows us to see the wider context. By wearing a Sašo Vrabič shirt, you will become the one being depicted, enriching the inscription with your own image. The slogan, which became part of the multiple, was previously used by Vrabič for his mural image – the portrait of the perennial malcontent and cripple dr. House, which he created in 2012 on the wall of the Cankar Hall building in Ljubljana with charcoal. www.vrabic.si Photograph: Jernej Prelac

Made in China, 16. december 2016 ― M#6, 2012, UV printing on self-adhesive foil 6 stickers per set Size: 70 x 70 mm Limitless edition - - - - - price: 6 € The socially-critical artistic duo from Maribor son:DA (Metka Golec, Miha Horvat) has been active since 2000. We mainly know them from projects with which they succeeded in making visible that which is always present, but usually goes unnoticed. Their work subtly hints at connections, the importance of cooperation, intertwining and meeting in a network; the duo also demonstrates this with the way they work – they employ “team” work using a number of media and techniques of expression. The Say Now sticker reminds us of the movement from 2013 which gave Slovenian citizens the opportunity to speak and asked them to speak out. Photography: Jernej Prelac
